Thousands in Russia border city protest arrest of governor in challenge to Putin – Fox News

Tens of 1000’s of people today marched Saturday throughout the Russian town of Khabarovsk on the border with China to protest the arrest of the regional governor on murder prices, continuing a wave of protests that has lasted for two months in a obstacle to the Kremlin.

Sergei Furgal has been in a Moscow jail due to the fact his arrest on July nine, and Russian President Vladimir Putin has named an performing successor. Protesters in Khabarovsk see the prices towards Furgal as unsubstantiated and need that he stand trial at property.

“People are offended,” explained Dmitry Kachalin, just one of the protesters. “I feel people today just take to the streets due to the fact their vote in the 2018 election was taken away.”

Unlike Moscow, wherever law enforcement usually shift swiftly to disperse unsanctioned opposition protests, authorities have not interfered with unauthorized demonstrations in Khabarovsk, seemingly expecting them to fizzle out in excess of time.
