NYPD investigating car that plowed into a group of BLM protesters in Times Square – CNN


(CNN)The New York Police Department is investigating an incident in which a car or truck plowed into a group of Black Life Make a difference protesters blocking the road in Times Sq. Thursday night.

NYPD Commissioner Dermot Shea mentioned on “Great Day New York” Friday morning that video of the incident reveals a black vehicle driving into a group of BLM protesters shortly just after eight p.m. in the coronary heart of Manhattan.
He believed that at least 200 people have been having aspect in the demonstration.
Twitter movie from the scene showed the vehicle, which appears to have a push bumper put in on the front, briefly cease ahead of accelerating through the protesters and cyclists who were in the street at the time. The license plate of the vehicle is seen on video clips of the incident. A little group then chased immediately after it as it sped absent.
It can be unclear what happened in advance of the online video commenced recording, but Shea explained to “Superior Day” at least a person bicyclist experienced blocked the car from going, and two others struck the car’s window.
The NYPD confirmed that the motor vehicle was a black Ford Taurus sedan, which is comparable to a design utilised by the law enforcement office.
Shea claimed police have a ton of facts about this incident and car. The NYPD says the auto is not affiliated with the office. Some protesters speculated on social media that it was an undercover police motor vehicle.
No injuries have been reported, and officials are hoping to talk with protesters and the driver and passenger(s) in the motor vehicle, Shea mentioned. The NYPD urged anybody who may perhaps have been wounded to come ahead. They have not gained any issues about the incident.
The New York Fire Division explained to CNN that it did not obtain any phone calls about the incident.
