Counselor to the President Kellyanne Conway instructed “The Story” Friday that polls showing President Trump trailing Joe Biden nationally and in essential battleground states are not a shock to her.
“Three issues are happening correct now. We had a world pandemic [which] continue to is with us … We have an economic crisis that the president is handling,” Conway told host Martha MacCallum. “And also, we have some social unrest and people calling for racial justice and the like, and so this president is on top of all 3 … and Joe Biden is fully absent from the dialogue, which is why his poll quantities are large.
“Individuals are placing onto Joe Biden exactly what they want him to be,” added Conway, who predicted that voters will be “sorely dissatisfied when they see him and they listen to him, time and once more.”

MacCallum then pressed Conway on the polling numbers expressing the president was failing to link with voters and citing his acceptance numbers, some thing Conway dismissed.
“The polls are about horse race figures. And let’s be fair, these polls are precisely wherever I imagine they would be right now in that when you look at The New York Times state-by-state race polls, [Trump and Biden are] in just a handful of factors of every other and they’re both less than 50 p.c by and big,” Conway explained. “I would assume a president’s acceptance ranking to be decreased than typical when we are in so a lot of crises in this state. That isn’t going to shock me at all.”
