Sunday’sHomelandseries finale was at first supposed to kick off with the return of a pivotal character, but the mixture of funds overruns and an 11th hour appeal from Claire Danes led to the scene’s demise.

Showrunner Alex Gansa tells TVLine that an previously variation of the swan music integrated a sequence wherein Danes’ Claire reunites with estranged daughter Franny. “There was aprettysignificant Carrie/Franny scene that opened the finale at 1 point,” the EP reveals, before including that the scene finished up finding excised for “two massive motives.”
