When requested about McGregor’s surprise tweet, UFC president Dana White appeared to chalk it up to stir craziness for the duration of the global coronavirus pandemic and other existing events.

“I’ll remind every person that we’re in a pandemic. The globe is a insane area appropriate now with all these factors that are likely on,” White claimed at the UFC 250 put up-combat news meeting. “I think that all people feels this proper now. There’s no admirers. We can not journey the fights all over. I think everybody is pissed off, puzzled, been locked up in their residences for 3-and-a-50 percent months. People are wearing masks. Randomly saying his retirement on Twitter is practically nothing new for McGregor. When UFC deal negotiations ran amuck in 2019, McGregor posted a very similar concept. In April 2016, McGregorannounced his retirement in the now-infamous “thanks for the cheese” tweet.

McGregor, 31, has been selected by UFC president Dana White as the possible up coming challenger for the winner of the upcoming light-weight championship bout in between Khabib Nurmagomedov and Justin Gaethje.

McGregor joins a notable listing of UFC fighters who have both retired, threatened to retire, or spoken out about failed negotiations. The marketing is at this time in the midst of public again-and-forths with UFC gentle heavyweight champion Jon Jones and “BMF” titleholder Jorge Masvidal. Past month, bantamweight champion Henry Cejudo retired immediately after defending his belt and later on vacated.
