Carnival Glory is headed back to New Orleans after colliding with another cruise ship in Mexico – CNN

(CNN)The Carnival cruise ship ruined Friday in a collision with an additional Carnival vessel is on its way back again to its house port in New Orleans, the cruise line claimed.

The Carnival Glory was “maneuvering to dock” when it strike the Carnival Legend, which was now docked in Cozumel, Mexico, Carnival CruiseLine stated. 6 attendees with slight injuries went to the Carnival Glory clinical center for evaluation.
The vessel established sail from the Cozumel port late Friday. It is expected to get there at the Port of New Orleans at six a.m. Sunday, the Port of New Orleans website suggests.
“The ship has been inspected by essential authorities and there are no difficulties that impact our capacity to sail safely and securely back to New Orleans,” the Glory’s captain, Pero Grubjesic mentioned in a letter acquired by CNN that was delivered to the cruise ship’s passengers.
A formal investigation is underway to establish the bring about of the crash, Grubjesic explained in the letter. The cruise line believes the collision “was thanks to spontaneous wind gusts and sturdy currents,” he wrote.
Carnival (CCL) describes the incident as an allision involving the two ships. An allision is a nautical time period used to explain when a moving ship collides with a stationary object, these as one more ship.
As a outcome of the crash, the cruise line furnished passengers with a $a hundred, for every area, onboard credit, the captain’s letter mentioned.
