Florida State earned the No. 1 seed in next week’s ACC Tournament by winning the league’s regular-season race outright on Saturday. The Seminoles routed Boston College by double digits to lock down the top spot, claiming their first ACC regular-season crown since joining the league in the process.
The No. 2 seed in the ACC Tournament is — incredibly — the Virginia Cavaliers. Tony Bennett’s club won 11 of their last 12 games in conference play, topped with a 57-54 win on Saturday over Louisville. The result pushed the Cardinals to the No. 3 seed. Duke is the 4 seed after outlasting North Carolina 89-76.
You don’t have to wait until the field of 68 is announced to fill out your brackets. Play Conference Bracket Games and pick the tournaments for a $10,000 cash prize or start a pool and compete against friends. No purchase necessary, see Rules for details.
It’s been a down year for the ACC on the whole, but the top of the league remains a force to be reckoned with entering the postseason. Four teams from the conference are ranked inside the latest AP Top 25, and all four have 23+ wins on the resume entering the ACC Tournament. So while the league is positioned to send fewer teams than it did last year (seven) to the Big Dance, it should be well-represented.

Watching day one of the ACC Tourney and can’t help but wonder what today’s loss will mean for Danny Manning at Wake Forest. Six years in with one NCAAT appearance (lost in 2017 First Four). Tough place to win, for sure. But the Demon Deacons do have a proud history, and new AD John Currie has been around long enough to start making his mark. Guess we’ll find out soon enough.
